This is actually kind of fun; I did for a brief period a few years ago, before the kiddos came along. If approved for the panel, you'll receive a scanner and a few other little gadgets that allow you to report what you purchase to Nielsen. After you go shopping, you use the scanner to scan the barcodes of everything you purchase. Then, once a week, using your landline (you MUST have a home phone/landline), you dial in to an 800 number with your scanner. At least, this is how it worked a few years ago. I'm sure the technology has improved!
