Target Shopping 5/15/10 - Schick Hydro Deal Explained!

If you've been paying attention, you may have seen the Target deal posted last week for Schick Hydro razors. Here's a recap:

:: Buy 2 Schick Hydro 3 Razors @ $6.99 ea
:: Use 2 $5/1 coupons from the 5/9 Smartsource circular

:: Receive a $5 Target gift card for purchasing 2 razors
Final Price: FREE + $3.02 moneymaker! ($1.98 out of pocket)

So, knowing about this deal when it was advertised last weekend, I decided to seek out more of the $5/1 coupons from the Sunday paper. They were all over eBay, so I purchased 20, intending to donate the razors, and use the gift cards on things the family could use. So, here's a breakdown of my Target purchases and how I worked the deal:

Total After Tax: $28.76
 :: Used $15 in gift cards from earlier purchase
Total Out of Pocket: $13.76
  :: received $35 in gift cards for buying 14 razors

:: Grand Total Out of Pocket from Target Shopping on 5/15: $38.24 PLUS $35 in gift cards. And I got a ton of stuff!

Holy cow! That took a lot of work. Now you may be asking, what in the world is she going to do with all of those razors? Well, I certainly don't need them, and 20 razors would hold my husband over for quite a long time...But, I'll be donating most of them. I only bought them for the gift cards to use on other things, so I essentially used Target's money to buy things that we need, instead of the razors.

To sum up, I bought 20 razors, 8 packages of Carefree liners, 7 Buddies Soaps, 1 pair of kid shorts, Honey Nut Cheerios, 2 Dove travel size deodorants, 3 tubes of Blistex, 1 box Motrin PM, 2 boxes Nexcare bandages, 2 Benadryl Itch Sticks, 4 Enchilada Kits, and 1 Carnation Instant Breakfast. All for $38.24 - subtract the $35 in gift cards that were leftover, and I basically paid $3.24. Not too shabby! Anyone need a razor? ;)
